There is not the same at Stonehenge - so to prove your hypothesis you need to show:<br /><br />Where the chalk came from? and What happened to it after?<br /><br />The fact that the ditch is still showing indicates it was removed rather than natural spreading (as the ditch would be under metres of chalk - which excavations how it is not (see Hawley's excavation notes) Cleal et al 1991. There is a lot of tumulus which have partially or completely disappeared, because of need for earth. About the stones which filled the void, I think it is not necessary to calculate the amount of buildings which have been dismantled on the planet during past centuries... Only some of the big stones were left because they were too big, even if some of them have gone, as you can see on the site, which made some people think that the circle was not complete !
